MAINTAINING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

One of the first pieces of equipment to appear on automobiles is a piece of plastic plumbing known as the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve. It consists of a breather tube connected to the intake manifold and a fresh air intake (usually attached to the air cleaner) that introduces cleansing air to the engine. The PCV valve re-circulates partially burned crankcase gases back into the engine and, in the process, improved fuel economy, reduces pollution, and reduces engine corrosion. As a general matter, auto-mobile manufacturers recommend that the PCV valve be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or so. Otherwise, the increased risk of clogging may result in poor idling, decreased gas mileage, slow acceleration, power loss, and other problems.

When's the last time your PCV was replaced? If you don't know, it's probably time to make an appointment at our shop. Our ASE-certified technicians will check your PCV and be sure to replace it before it gets clogged and dirty, causing inefficient combustion. With the price of gas these days, can you afford not to have it checked on a regular basis?

Give us a call at 952-473-4848 today for an appointment. Our address is 2220 Daniels Street, Long Lake. And don't forget to visit www.chunksautomotiveservice.com for a chance to win free gas!

HINT: A clogged PCV valve can lead to failure of an emissions test.
