Sensing Trouble

The oxygen sensor in your vehicle measure the amount of oxygen in its exhaust gases as a means of controlling the fuel-air mixture in the engine. It sends this information to the engine management system, which adjusts the fuel mixture accordingly (making it either richer or leaner). In the event that the oxygen sensor wears out, as it eventually will, it will adversely affect the health and performance of the engine. As a result of incorrect readings, the catalytic converter may become damaged, emissions will increase, and/or such drivability problems as hesitation and/or surging may arise. To avoid problems, replace the oxygen sensors in your vehicle at the recommended interval or when the “CHECK ENGINE” light advises you to do so.

So remember to bring your vehicle in to our shop whenever your ‘CHECK ENGINE” light turns on. Whether you have a faulty oxygen sensor or some other issue, the longer you leave it unchecked, the more damage you can cause. Our experienced technicians will fix it right the first time! Call 952-473-4848 to make an appointment. We’re located at 2220 Daniels Street, Long Lake.

Hint: Oxygen sensors are located at one or more points in the exhaust system.
